An abiding memory I have is sitting on my grandmother’s knee watching Bollywood movies in India. As film producer, my mission has been to tell untold stories, the values that connect us as humans across the divides of culture, religion, caste, class, and race.

"I came to England with a suitcase full of culture" as I’ve often said. The past five decades have been about pushing the boundaries of British mainstream culture, exploring expressions of both current and perennial issues and imagining transformations of this place I call home.
